Laura Murtha

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Mind.Body.Balance, Psychiatric Services. My work is rooted in a holistic, patient-centered approach that recognizes the connection between mental health, physical health, life experience, and developmental stage. I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Penn State University and my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. I then went on to become board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and also a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider..

With a clinical background in maternity and perinatal care, I have extensive experience supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families across hospital, outpatient, and community settings. My perspective is also greatly shaped by my lived experience as a mother of eight, which deepens my understanding of the emotional, physical, and mental demands of caregiving and major life transitions. I am particularly passionate about women’s mental health, with focused expertise in mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, hormonal changes, and reproductive and perinatal psychiatry.

While women’s mental health is a specialty of mine, I also provide comprehensive psychiatric care for adolescents and adults of all genders. I offer diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy tailored to each person’s unique needs. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and evidence-based with an emphasis on creating a space where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered on their journey toward balance, clarity, and long-term mental wellness

My Approach

My approach is grounded in collaboration, transparency, and respect for each individual’s voice. I believe patients are active participants in their care, and I value open dialogue that allows treatment decisions to align with both clinical evidence and personal comfort. My role is to provide thoughtful guidance and medical expertise while honoring each patient’s goals, preferences, and pace. Together, we work toward care that feels informed, supportive, and balanced.

Lasting impact

What began as a passion project has grown into something deeply meaningful to me. I’m proud of the care I’ve built and grateful for the opportunity to continue growing alongside those I support. What truly sets this practice apart isn’t just the process, but the intention behind it. I take time to listen, understand, and approach each step of care with thoughtfulness and purpose.
